I am a practical, feminist theologian. This means that I love to talk theology and the ways we embody it in practical ways. I do this from a feminist lens that tends toward a hermeneutic of suspicion. I am a Pastor at Ekklesia Christian Fellowship in Chattanooga, TN. I utilize my skills to encourage the community to find ways to reframe scripture and Jesus toward a way of expansive love.
I am passionate about empowering and encouraging all in their God-given vocations. I talk a lot about ways we can walk fully into the spaces we are called to. And I talk honestly about the struggles we wrestle with, the subtle ways patriarchy continues to keep us down, and ways that we can subversively work against this damaging system. The patriarchy and its hierarchies of power make it difficult for women and minorities to find their place. I am passionate about finding creative solutions to this oppressive structure.
I find myself in the role of disrupter a lot. And I am getting more comfortable with that role. I get excited about wrestling with scripture, dialoguing about the tough questions of the faith, and sharing the Good News that we are all members of New Creation Life in Christ.
